Painterly composition, built for the body.
Peter Anderson is a native of Mobile, Alabama and has been tattooing since 2008. Before and alongside tattooing, Peter built a career as a painter, with artwork displayed throughout the southeastern United States and shown in art events along the Gulf Coast.
That fine art background informs the way he approaches tattooing. Peter thinks carefully about composition, contrast, movement, and how an image will live on the body. His work is especially suited for clients looking for custom black and grey tattoos with a strong artistic foundation.
Peter is also the owner of The Bell Rose Tattoo and a co-founder of Joy Print Co., where he provides design and screen printing services.

Peter’s approach starts with composition. Coming from a painting background, he considers the structure of an image before it becomes a tattoo: the balance of light and dark, the movement of the design, the shape of the body, and the relationship between each element.
Rather than placing a flat image onto the skin, Peter designs tattoos to move naturally with the body. His larger black and grey work is built around flow, contrast, and long-term readability.
-
Peter is especially interested in large-scale black and grey tattoos, floral compositions, religious imagery, statues, architectural references, and custom realism-based work. He is a strong fit for clients who want a thoughtfully planned tattoo with an emphasis on composition, detail, and lasting visual impact.
-
With nearly 20 years of tattooing experience, Peter has worked across many facets of the craft, including American traditional, Japanese traditional, portraits, color realism, black and grey realism, and custom illustrative tattooing. His current focus centers on black and grey work and larger composition-based pieces.
